Movies Review
The Gadar 2 is a direct sequel to The Bridge (2001). The film cleverly uses montages from the first film to establish a connection and take you on a trip down memory lane. The Indian side is the base of the first film and here the scene is the Indo-Pak war of 1971, which led to the formation of Bangladesh. The film is patriotic and features Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) as a one-man soldier who single-handedly destroys the Pakistani army. Sunny Deol in one of his recent interviews compared Tara Singh to Hulk and Superman while watching the movie, you feel like you are watching a superhero movie.Sunny Deol in one of his recent interviews compared Tara Singh to Hulk and Superman while watching the movie, you feel like you are watching a superhero movie.
It's been a year since Tara Singh rescued his wife Sakina (Amisha Patel) from Pakistan. He lives comfortably with her and their son Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh (Utkarsh Sharma), who is now a bound young man. There is a war in the air and Lieutenant Colonel Devendra Rawat (Gaurav Chopra) asks Tara Singh for his help. Our people at the border urgently needed supplies and Tara with a large number of trucks rushed to the designated area, but the enemy ambushed them. It is said that Tara Singh is captured by Major General Hamid Iqbal (Manish Wadhwa), who is seeking Tara's blood as Tara killed his battalion officers when he first escaped from Pakistan. Jeete takes it upon himself to save his father but in a twist of fate, he is captured. Now it's up to Tara to come up with a rescue mission and bring her son back to India.
While the previous film was about the love between Tara and Sakina, this film shows the relationship between father and son. Jeete is shown to be a piece of old fence and takes his father's shirt forward. Director Anil Sharma has relaunched his son Utkarsh with this film. He is shown the complete package here, romancing a beautiful girl Muskaan (Simrat Kaur) and sharing some light hearted moments with his father and mother in the first half, before he becomes a working man and continues to abuse the on Pakistan, just like his own. father. Utkarsh did not let this opportunity go in vain and made the most of the action.
There's no denying that Sunny Deol takes the screen by storm, even at the age of 66. He can still set fire and make the audience go wild every time he hits an enemy. Director Sharma played a great role and made sure to fulfill his role with the public affairs. Sunny looks like someone who can defeat the entire army single-handedly and is the USP of the film. It is the main reason why the audience took the film in such a big way. Ameesha Patel doesn't have much to do and she is very good at her emotional state.
Considering the current situation, it is expected that Gadar 2, which carries a strong flavor of nationalism, will please the viewers. It is a credit to director Anil Sharma that he has kept the jingoism to a minimum, focusing on family bonding rather than taking the story forward. The film has been riding on its high profile and its co-star, Sunny Deol, who once again proves the saying that a lion never gets old.
