Movies Review
Danny and Michael Philippou's "Talk to Me" cleverly imagines a terrible madness that could easily wipe out a generation - this famous film is one of the most frightening things about it. The dangers of social media feeding include spiritual possession, made possible by holding a severed hand covered in clay inscribed with names and symbols that reflect a long line of previous owners. Aussie teenagers like Mia (Sophie Wilde), Jade (Alexandra Jensen), and finally Jade's younger brother Riley (Joe Bird) are the latest players in this game, which makes them see the dead and give their access to their bound bodies. for 90 seconds, top. When the spirits "enter," the young people suddenly kick back in the chair (the camera pulls back with them, the sound fades), and their pupils explode into deep blackness. They tremble, suffocate, asphyxiate as if they are going to die. Meanwhile, they are surrounded by their fun friends, filming. Quick, as a YouTuber might have said about eating pot.
It is a brilliant device for a modern horror story (Daley Pearson is credited as the creator of the concept), and a franchise (in the case of horror, this is often (It means the concept is interesting, like when "The Final Problem," "The Purge," and "Saw" debuted.) "Talk to Me" could lead to higher ratings body or a horror story directly in its aftermath. But the game starts a little bit here with a real scene that means gut-this first episode is about watching a man have a bad idea of sadness, and destroy the decision they made on his loved ones.
There are rules about how this dance with death can be done "safely," and in the dynamic dance that combines partying with the show of ownership, we have an understanding of what can be interesting for Mia, her friends, and the current situation. owners, Hayley (Zoe Terakes) and Joss (Chris Alosio). But everything changes for the better, when one of the spirits that haunts young Riley turns out to be Mia's mother who died by suicide two years ago. Or at least the spirit claims to be. The terrifying Mia forced this communication with the dead to continue for a long time, she put Riley in a coma with several gashes on his head, an attempt by the spirit to kill his soul and full control of his body.
The second half of "Talk to Me" suffers from being a recent horror film built on the trauma of loss, but it gets a special figure from Sophie Wilde's excellent performance. It's not just about Mia trying to keep in touch with her mother, but her need not to lose her new family, that of Jade, Riley, and their protective Sue's mother (played with dry wit by Miranda Otto) in the process. We're glad to see Mia is healthy, especially since she has such a bright personality - her yellow dress is always open, and she has fun things with Riley, like when the difficult Philippous cuts them off scene during Sia's "Chandelier" blast during a late-night car ride. Wilde portrays a feverish, youthful need to reconcile past traumas and a dangerous future, and by attempting to dispel sleight of hand magic, she isolates herself from reality in the process. "Talk to Me" could have been bigger without such a great performance, but Wilde's interpretation - his first big screen - is one for the horror movie history books.
Philippous rarely shows us TikToks or Snapchats that collect these things, but we don't need to see them: these scary events are done exactly as they are in real life, with writers Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman leaving young people should be young people. When everything starts to fall apart - and lives are on the line - the characters become more stubborn, their frustrations making things worse and even more dangerous. "Talk to Me" has a wise coming-of-age story, and while it creates some beautiful moments of disbelief from the audience, it never tells the audience it wants to think. Philippous's video is from YouTube (known there as RackaRacka), and their eyes for this psychology are more familiar than insulting.

There are plenty of goodies scattered throughout "Talk to Me," especially for fans of well-done head injuries, sound design that makes you win without relying on jumps, and sound that doesn't play well. Plus, the movie's acting is getting better and better (the movie's young cast looks amazing in those seats, even if the make-up style is familiar to other movies and lot). But "Talking to Me" can bank a lot of its quality on being the best pitch from the past — it's hard not to see the opening scenes of terror, one shot through a disjointed, crowded band. 'a, as an isolated red. Herring is not followed by the rest of the film. The patience of the film is generally interesting, and it is more fun in many cases when the camera is held on the face of someone scared, so we can scare what the ghouls are looking at. But "Talk to Me" is too dangerous despite its bright promise.

Whether we get another round with this hand of fate, "Talking to Me" has long been an interesting directorial debut from Philippous, whose opinion on the YouTube battle and the video of the drama is most evident in this emotional carnage of a film. With such a send-up on the property story, Philippous managed to cross over into film production, but it would take some genius to keep talking about them.
